Microsoft has released the Windows 10 October 2020 update and it will roll out to PCs very soon. An update works to make make your computing life easier and more secure, essentially improving upon the last version.

The Windows 10 October 2020 Update, also known as version 20H2, has some interesting features, and here are some of them!

Customise your Start menu

The Start menu gets a revamp in the Windows 10 October 2020 Update. It has a more streamlined design replacing the solid colour backplates behind the logos in your apps list with partially transparent backgrounds. This makes the icons stand out more. You will also see a change in colours depending on if you’re running light or dark mode.

To customise your Start menu in the Windows 10 October 2020 Update; you can go to Settings > Personalization > Color and enable the accent color on Start, taskbar, and action center, to add an accent color so your tiles match your desktop theme for example.

Use the new Edge browser privacy settings

— Set up your privacy features by going to Settings > Privacy and services.

— There are three options for tracking prevention: the basic option allows most trackers, the balanced option blocks trackers from sites you haven’t visited and it is recommended by Microsoft while the Strict option blocks most trackers from all sites.

You can also check on your settings whilst using the browser by clicking on the lock icon to the left of the search bar, then you’ll see a box informing you on the status of your connection. You also have the option to check the site certificate, cookies in use, and site permissions. There’s also the ability to toggle on or off Tracking Prevention and manage the setting for all sites you visit.

Open all your browser tabs at once

The Windows 10 October 2020 gives you the room to open all of your tabs in Edge with a simple command. This means that you can configure the website to show only your last three or five tabs, or turn it off completely. At the moment though, the feature only works with the Edge browser.

To open all the tabs in Edge at once; press Alt + Tab. To configure your tab settings and turn off the feature, go to Settings > System > Multitasking, and a drop-down menu will show with options for what Alt + Tab can do.
