Some Google Pixel 6 Pro Smartphones Are Having Display Flickers

Some Google Pixel 6 Pro smartphones are having some display flickers, and the company says it’s not a hardware problem. Google says that when the power button is pressed “with slight pressure but enough to turn on” causes the flicker.

The smartphone manufacturer is releasing a fix for the display flicker in December, with a software update. Google says that to avoid the Pixel 6 Pro displaying residual light, users should hold the power button long enough to turn it on.

Just like Sony, Google is making a waitlist for its flagship Pixel 6 and 6 Pro smartphones. The company seems to be running low on stock due to the ongoing chip storage and supply constraints.

The company’s Pixel 6 Pro page for the US has a new banner with the details of the waitlist saying “Due to high demand, some Pixel 6 Pro models may be out of stock or have long delivery times,” the company says.

“Get notified when they’re back in stock, or check out other authorized retailers who may have them available.” There’s an option to join the created waitlist and contact other possible sellers of the flagship phone.

The Pixel 6 and 6 Pro will ship with a day-one software update according to Google’s support forum page. The software build number SD1A.210817.036 or SD1A.210817.036.A8 for Verizon customers is available for the newest Google smartphones.

According to Google, this update will take about 25 to 30 minutes to download and install.

You should check your Pixel 6 if it’s running the latest build software, simply head to settings -> About pone -> Build number. The company also says that users should update all their apps to make sure all new features and improvements reflect.

Not all of the configurations of Google’s flagship smartphones are unavailable on the play store. You can still buy some of the available units from Google or any of its trusted partners and carriers.

Pixel 6 Pro users will have to wait till next month to have a fix for their screen flickering. In the meantime, Google’s Pro version is limited in inventory with a waiting list available on the Play store.
