Sony expects Microsoft to maintain the ‘Call of Duty’ multiplatform stance, as the Redmond company proposes to buy Activision Blizzard. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, a spokesperson says We expect that Microsoft will abide by contractual agreements and continue to ensure Activision games are multiplatform.”
Playstation has an existing Call of Duty marketing deal with Activision for more than five years running now. The gaming company holds the gaming title in high regard. In December 2021, Sony pointed out that Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War was the most played PS5 game for the year. This warfare game is only behind Fortnite for the year, showing the huge revenue it pulls for the company.
Microsoft for now wants to keep most of Activision cross-platform games as they are. Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer earlier said “Activision Blizzard games are enjoyed on a variety of platforms and we plan to continue to support those communities moving forward.”

Microsoft will be acquiring Activision Blizzard for the sum of $68.7 billion, the gaming company are the publisher of the popular Call of Duty. This deal will be the “third-largest gaming company by revenue, behind Tencent and Sony” upon completion says Microsoft.
Company gaming CEO Phil Spencer says that it will be pushing Activision Blizzard gaming titles towards the Xbox platform. “Upon close, we will offer as many Activision Blizzard games as we can within Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass, both new titles and games from Activision Blizzard’s incredible catalog,” He said.
Microsoft will look to honour the cross-platform contracts and agreements Activision Blizzard has with Sony Playstation. Although, after that expires the company will be making the title an exclusive in order to enjoy its goodwill.
