Sony is allowing PS4 owners to show their support for the Black Lives Matter movement while using their consoles. The company released a new static theme on the PlayStation Store and it’s calling it the ‘Black Lives Matter Theme’.
This theme is free and available on the PlayStation Store. Enabling the theme displays a solid black wallpaper with a yellow outline of the black raised fist at the lower portion of the PS4’s user interface.
The symbol features on the right side of the screen and is synonymous with the black lives matter movement. The theme also displays the hashtag #BLM across a striped grey background on the upper side of the user interface.

In its description, Sony said; “Give your PlayStation®4 system’s home screen a personal touch with this special theme in a show of support for the Black Lives Matter Movement. Themes can be downloaded to give your on-screen display a completely new look, changing the background, icons, and colours to match your favourite game or style. After downloading, you can select the theme you want to use via the Themes option on the PS4™ system’s Settings menu“.
Sony is not alone, other gaming companies also introduced their own versions of the black lives matter theme. The companies have been showing solidarity within the last few months to the movement.
In June 2020, Activision released an update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and it displayed a splash screen message supporting the Black Lives Matter movement. Bungie also released a ‘be heard’ enamel pin and several emblems in Destiny 2, in addition to announcing several items supporting the Black Lives Matter movement,.
