Marvel comics icon Stan Lee may have gone but he is never to be forgotten. The New York City Council voted to approve a proposal to name a Bronx street after Stan Lee, called Stan Lee Way.

The new proposal suggests co-naming University Avenue as Stan Lee Way. The street is between Brandt Place and West 176th. The purpose of co-naming would mean that the old name would still come up along with the new name on maps and streets signs.

New York is doing this because Stan Lee already has a personal history with the Bronx. He lived and schooled there. He also attended high school at the DeWitt Clinton HS in the Bronx and lived at 1720 University Avenue.

The proposal only needs a mayoral sign-off to become reality. It is unsure if and when that will be, but the idea in itself is one that is very welcome by all.

Stan Lee died at the age of 95 in November 2018. An upcoming animated project called The Amazing Stan already immortalised him. The street is just another way to do that.

The legend was the co-creator of Spider-Man, the Hulk, Doctor Strange, the Fantastic Four, Iron Man, Daredevil, Thor, the X-Men, and many other fictional characters. He introduced a shared universe into superhero comic books.

Lee was able to lead the expansion of Marvel Comics from a small division of a publishing house to a huge multimedia corporation.
