An old pair of Birkenstocks sandal, alleged to have been worn by late Steve Jobs, sold for $218,750 at an auction. As reported by Apple Insider, the footwear was part of a collection that included an NFT of them.
Julien’s Auction had planned to sell the sandals for $80,000 but bids just went through the roof, kicking their projections to the curb.
However, the story has been laced with doubts as there is no way to confirm their authenticity. The only facts that the outlet could get was that the sandals did resemble those that the late Apple founder used to wear in the 70s and 80s.
The auction brand claimed that Jobs had given his Birkenstocks to his house manager at the time, Mark Sheff, but it did not say if Sheff was the one that provided the item or a relative.

In a 2018 interview with Vogue, the tech founder’s daughter Crisann Brennan had confirmed that her father did have a loyalty to the footwear. “The sandals were part of his simple side… they were his uniform. The great thing about a uniform is that you don’t have to worry about what to wear in the morning,” she told the magazine.
The buyer’s identity is not revealed, although, this is not unusual as many collectors prefer to remain anonymous.
Classics relating to Steve Jobs and Apple have become quite valuable these days give how big the brand is now. In August, a new, sealed first-gen iPhone sold for more than $35,000 and an Apple-1 prototype device that had allegedly passed through Steve Jobs’ hand sold for $677,196 at the same auction.
