Electric vehicles or electric cars or EVs are the future. They will take over the roads in developed companies by 2025. Companies in developing countries like Nigeria have some catching up to do, but we also expect them to catch up soon.
However, at the moment the environment-friendly low emission cars are still not very common. Regardless, automotive companies seem to invest in them. They don’t seem to make much sales in the market yet.
Governments around the world suggest that electric vehicles should take over their roads. A very recent example is Ireland which plans to make most of the vehicles in the country electric ones.
These are some of the low-emission electric cars that will be on the roads by 2025.
1. Cadillac Electric SUV
This concept for this car unveiled in January 2019. It is an electric crossover SUV expected to be built on a new electric-vehicle platform. However, the release dates and specifications for the vehicle are still undisclosed.
2. Porsche Macan
Back in February, Porsche announced that its next generation of the Macan SUV will be electric. The company is, however, yet to announce the release date of this vehicle. Meanwhile, Porsche expresses plans to invest over six billion dollars in electric mobility by 2022.
3. BMW i4
This electric car by BMW has a 2021 release date. It will have a range of 372 miles. The BMW i4 will also have the ability to move from 0 to 60 miles per hour in as little as four seconds.
4. BMW iNext
Also from the German automakers, the iNext SUV is slated for release in 2021. It also has a range of over 372 miles. The car will have the autonomous-driving technology that is at Level 3. This will give the car the ability to drive itself in certain situations.
5. Audi e-tron GT
Also set for release in 2021, this has a range of 248 miles. The test version of the car has 590 horsepower and the ability to accelerate from 0-60 miles per hour. It attains this feat in a record 3.5 seconds.
6. Porsche Taycan
According to Porsche, this one will have over 310 miles range. The Taycan will also have over 600 horsepower. Just like the Audi can accelerate from 0-60 mph in less than 3.5 seconds.
7. Volkswagen ID Buzz
This car will hit the market in 2022. It is a revamp to Volkswagen’s signature minibus. The Volkswagen ID Buzz has a customisable interior and seats that can rotate and move on floor tracks. It also lets the user set up its interior for specified purposes.
8. Volkswagen ID.3
The German company intends to make this special edition vehicle available in Europe next year, 2020. The car will have a range between 205 and 310 miles. The cheapest version of this car is expected to cost below $34,000.
9. Jaguar I-Pace
This first fully-electric vehicle was released in 2018. It got named the best car of this year, 2019, by the World Car Awards. It has a range of 234 miles and can accelerate to 60 mph in four and a half seconds.
10. Fisker EMotion
Fisker’s EMotion electric SUV will be released in 2021. The car has impressive specs like the ability to travel for more than 500 miles per charge. It uses solid-state batteries which makes it possible. This feature also helps increase the electric car’s range and safety.
