Xiaomi has announced its 12 series flagship smartphones with insanely huge 50 Megapixel main cameras. These series are available in Pro and non-pro version. The Pro version has a f/1.9 wide lens, and the 50MP camera chip is made by Sony.
Xiaomi is the first smartphone company to use this Sony IMX707 chip. The 12 Pro version has two other 50 MP rear cameras, an ultrawide and a telephoto camera. While the Xiaomi 12 has a smaller 13MP ultrawide, 5MP telemacro and 1/1.56-inch sensor.
Both versions of these flagship share the same software teaks such as burst shooting improvements, reduced shutter lag and subject tracking for human and animal faces.
The 12 series flagship smartphones also share the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipsets and the highly responsive 120Hz OLED panels. There are some differences though, for screen size the 12Pro measures at 6.73-inches while the Xiaomi 12 has a smaller 6.28-inch screen.
The 12 Pro has a higher battery at 4,500mAh with the 12 sheding 100mAh less battery than its eldery sibling. The 12Pro has a faster 120W charging also.

Xiaomi 12 launched on December 28, after there have been leaks of the flagship. This is the first time, the tech company will be retiring the “Mi” branding after 10 years of usage.
Xiaomi is letting go of its “Mi” product naming scheme, in order to unify its brand name. First reported by XDA Developers, the name “Xiaomi” will be replacing the “Mi” brand. According to CEO Lei Jun, “Mi” stands for two things “Mobile internet” and “Mission Impossible”.
While the Xiaomi name translates to “millet” and “Xiao” means “small.” The newest 12 series will go on sale in china on December 31st with very competitive prices. The base model 12 Pro with 8B of RAM and 128GB storage starts at RMB 4,699 ($738). While the non pro version with the same configurations starts at RMB 3,699 ($581).
