Seven Things To Never Do At A Party

Parties are a fun way to relax and have fun after a long week of work. However, as much as you want to let loose and have a good time, there are some rules of party etiquette that you have to follow. Here are a bunch of things you should never do at a party.

1. Exclude yourself

Parties are a lot more fun when you indulge in games and activities. But if you decide to stay on your own, you will most likely end up having a bad time. Don’t ruin things by overthinking. Get involved, even in the things you think are beneath you. Play secondary school games. Dance even if you don’t know how to. Bond with people you don’t run in the same circles with. You will be surprised how exhilarating it is to just let go and have fun.

2. Complain

When you attend a party, don’t focus on what you don’t like. Just because you aren’t having a good night doesn’t mean you have to ruin it for other people. They’re not serving your favourite food? Eat what they have. You don’t like the music? Try to get in the groove or play your own music and have a party for one. Find a way to work around the things you don’t like or just go home. No one likes a bad belle, so don’t be one.

3. Be on your phone

Parties are meant to be interactive. But if the only thing you are interacting with is your phone, then you could end up missing out on a lot. If you want to have a really good time, don’t touch your phone unless it’s an emergency. That Twitter clap back can wait, and you don’t have to give a live feed of the party. Instead, you should be turning up and meeting new people. Why be on the internet when you can make a real-life connection?

4. Overshare

As awesome as it is to make connections, there is such a thing as doing too much. When you’re connecting with people, you should make sure to not share too many details about your life. People get uncomfortable when you give them information about yourself that they are not ready for. Don’t stress people with things they do not want to hear because they won’t know how to reply. It is an awkward situation for everybody.

5. Get too drunk

It is hella fun to loosen up and get lifted at parties. But it definitely is not fun to wake up to a video of you making out with a stranger or vomiting all over yourself. When you are at a party, you owe it to your host and to yourself to compose yourself and not become a liability by getting too intoxicated. The best fun you can have is something that you won’t look back on with regret. Make sure to drink responsibly at parties.

6. Shout

Imagine someone talking loud or shouting when you’re trying to kick back and chill at a party. Don’t be that person. It is disruptive and annoying. If you’re vibing with the music, vibe moderately. If you need to talk to someone, move closer or go somewhere quieter.

7. Flirt with everyone

A lot of people go to parties to meet and connect with potential love interests. Hot girl or hot boy summer or not, it is off-putting to flirt with everyone you meet at a party. It makes you come off as sleazy and dishonest.
