Health Company Mobile app Binah.ai claims it can track your blood pressure through your phone camera. The company recently added blood pressure monitoring to its mobile app feature and has been testing it.
How is this possible? The mobile app analyses the light reflected off the face of the user to calculate changes in blood flow. This technique is known as ‘Photoplethysmography.’
While the company is still conducting tests, it only verifies the tool as a wellness device. It currently can’t be used for medical purposes pending approval from the Food and Drug Administration.
Binah.ai says by just scanning the user’s face through a laptop or phone camera. This is an innovative way away from using the usual cuff which has been the go-to device.
“We designed this to replace home cuff devices,” says David Maman, CEO and co-founder of Binah.ai.
