Amazon has said that it will not ask its employees to remove the viral video-sharing app, TikTok from their mobile devices. The company says it erroneously sent out the initial email to employees.
The initial mail also found its way to Twitter with Amazon citing security reasons for the decision. The company said it didn’t want its employees to access the site with the devices which they use in accessing their official mails.
“Due to security risks, the TikTok app is no longer permitted on mobile devices that access Amazon email. If you have TikTok on your device, you must remove it by 10-Jul to retain mobile access to Amazon email. At this time, using TikTok from your Amazon laptop browser is allowed,” the company’s initial mail to employees had read.

A TikTok spokesperson issued a response addressing Amazon’s initial decision to ask employees to remove the app.
In a statement, the spokesperson said: “While Amazon did not communicate to us before sending their email, and we still do not understand their concerns, we welcome a dialogue so we can address any issues they may have and enable their team to continue participating in our community.”
There’s also speculation that the Trump administration could ban TikTok. Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo told Fox News that the administration was considering the action, increasing the speculation.
