In attendance at the press conference were Mrs Busola Dakolo and actress Kate Henshaw. Also present was the Executive Director of Enough is Enough Nigeria, Yemi Adamolekun.
His wife, Busola Dakolo, a celebrity photographer, had revealed on 28th June 2019 that the COZA pastor, Biodun Fatoyinbo, had allegedly r*ped her 20 years ago in Ilorin. She said this in an exclusive interview with YNaija’s Chude Jideonwo.

Prior to the release of the interview, Timi Dakolo noted that he and his wife had written a petition to the police.
The couple were also questioned for six hours.
The musician said, “On June 27, my wife, through her legal representative, wrote a petition on r*pe against Mr Biodun Fatoyinbo. The petition was filed at the Office of the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Alagbon, Ikoyi.
“We had four meetings and about six hours at the police station. The IG personally assigned the file and immediately asked for an action on the case. But we deliberately decided not to publicise it because we believed the law would be followed through.”
Therefore, he wondered why the police would storm his home to invite him and his wife to Abuja from Lagos State.
Meanwhile, the police had never invited Biodun Fatoyinbo who was based in Abuja.
Timi Dakolo, speaking at the press conference, continued:
“We had filed the petition before the release of the interview that had been recorded three weeks before. The interview was published on June 28. We have, on several occasions, met with the police in the course of [the] investigation. We were therefore shocked by the invitation to Abuja when no visible action was taken to interview Mr Fatoyinbo.
“As far as we know, Mr Fatoyinbo has not been questioned on the strength of my wife’s petition even after several invitations by the police.”
On Saturday, 20th July 2019, the singer had raised an alarm on social media after sighting gunmen in his house. Following the frenzy this caused on social media, it had been clarified that the gunmen were policemen. The policemen had handed over an invitation letter to report to the police station.
Timi Dakolo, on Saturday, shared a message on his social media page. In the message, he stressed how he will fight for his wife and children.
“I will fight for my wife and my children. It’s the promise I made with my life and one I intend to keep. I will defend them from the unrelenting attack of a weak man who thinks he can use money and power to cover for all of his crimes.”
During the press conference, he pointed out that his lawyer had been directed to respond to the invitation of the police.
The message reads:
“As a father and a protector of my home, I have decided to come out and speak publicly against this harassment, bully and maliciousness that we have received as law-abiding citizens of Nigeria just because my wife decided to speak her truth and I believe her and stand by her.
“I will never leave her side and I will do my best to protect her. The good people of Nigeria who have shown us so much love deserve to know what is happening.”
The singer had then raised an alarm over an attempt to abduct his wife. He clarified this during the press conference on Sunday. There, he explained that his wife had been allegedly trailed home by the policemen.
Speaking on her behalf, he said one of the officers, talking about his wife, said, “Oga is in the car, and he wants to speak with her.”
He added that he suspected the men were at his home with the intention of doing more than the letter delivery.
He said,
“On behalf of my family; I would like to share a few highlights especially about the attempt yesterday to abduct my wife or probably me if I was downstairs because the people that came to our house were carrying guns.
“Nobody comes to drop a letter with a vehicle that has tinted glasses and have men with guns that are trailing a car. When they followed my wife into the compound, someone said my Oga wants to see you in the bus. She said no. I don’t know your Oga. who are you?”
The artiste continued, stressing his point:
“And they now said that they wanted to give us a letter. I have already seen the bus earlier. The bus had been parked on the street for a long time, but I did not suspect anything. It did not cross my mind.
“As she came back from the road and was about to enter the compound, the bus followed her and blocked my gate. It is a sign that these people have been trailing and following her all the while.”
“If she had not insisted that no I don’t know you, I cannot follow you. We now said Oga what do you want. You don’t just come into peoples’ compound and say you just came to drop a letter with an armed man. It is not possible.”
Timi Dakolo explained that his wife had informed him of the alleged r*pe since last year. He further addressed how it took him a while before they decided to make it public.
