British actress Helen McCrory who played Narcissa Malfoy in “Harry Potter” and Polly Gray in “Peaky Blinders” is dead. The actress died after a battle with cancer at age 52.
Her death was announced by her husband and actor Damian Lewis in a statement shared on Twitter.
“I’m heartbroken to announce that after a heroic battle with cancer, the beautiful and mighty woman that is Helen McCrory has died peacefully at home, surrounded by a wave of love from friends and family,” Lewis wrote on Twitter.
“She died as she lived, Fearlessly. God we love her and know how lucky we are to have had her in our lives. She blazed so brightly. Go now, Little One, into the air, and thank you.”
McCrory kicked off her career on stage include playing Lady Macbeth in Macbeth at Shakespeare’s Globe, Olivia in Twelfth Night, and Rosalind in As You Like It in the West End.
She went on to join the cast of the “Harry Potter” series appearing in 2009’s ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’ where she played the character Narcissa Malfoy.

McCrory was most recently famous for her role in the British gang drama series, Peaky Blinders. There, she played Polly Gray, aunt to the Shelby Brothers.
“Helen was a beautiful, caring, funny, compassionate human being.” her co-star Cillian Murphy who played Tommy Shelby wrote in a tribute to her.
“She was also a gifted actor – fearless and magnificent. She elevated and made humane every scene, every character she played.”
“It was a privilege to have worked with this brilliant woman, to have shared so many laughs over the years.
“I will dearly miss my pal. My love and thoughts are with Damian and her family.”
The official “Peaky Blinders” Twitter handle also sent condolences to her family at the loss of one of their acts.
