American president Donald Trump has asked the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to focus on Mars. A tweet the president posted came as surprise to many. Trump announced that the Moon was part of the planet, Mars.
In a recent tweet, Trump said,
“For all of the money we are spending, NASA should NOT be talking about going to the Moon – We did that 50 years ago. They should be focused on the much bigger things we are doing, including Mars (of which the Moon is a part), Defense and Science!”

This came as a shock to many scientists. There has not been any formal declaration of the Moon being a part of Mars.
According to science, there was a collision between an entity the size of a planet and the Earth many years ago. This impact resulted in debris that later became the moon. The theory also postulates that Mars is actually far from the Moon – about 140 million miles away.
This comes a few weeks after Trump had charged NASA to try to make a trip back to the Moon. On 13th May 2019, Trump tweeted; “We are going back to the moon.”
Under my Administration, we are restoring @NASA to greatness and we are going back to the Moon, then Mars. I am updating my budget to include an additional $1.6 billion so that we can return to Space in a BIG WAY!

Following the tweet, Trump-appointed NASA administrator, Jim Bridenstine announced some plans NASA made. He stated that American astronauts were going to the Moon by 2024.
