Twitter Blue, the microblogging site’s subscription service, just got more expensive, jumping from $2.99 a month to $4.99. Again, does anyone care?
Granted, when you pay for Twitter, you get some cool features like the ability to edit a Tweet with the undo feature, a customisable navigation bar, a list of the top articles that people you follow share, and ad-free access to articles on sites.
However, it also has some pretty unnecessary features like choosing different app icons and using NFT profile pictures.
So, why is a subscription service that many users are not using getting more expensive? Twitter said that the increment was to help it continue building some highly-requested-for features and improve existing ones. In addition, it claims that it will sustain its mission to keep supporting journalism.

When they say that, people who can afford $2.99 per month may not mind spending an extra two dollars. Although, old-time subscribers don’t have to pay the extra until October. What we would like to know is just how many Twitter Blue subscribers there are.
The company does not yet reveal that number, I bet it is embarrassing at this time, but it has an overall 229 million daily users as of April 2022.
Twitter could be adding more Blue subscribers soon as it has teased the editable Tweets feature, one of the most requested additions to the platform since the beginning of time. So, the company may not have to take our ability to Tweet entirely before we start paying to use the service.
