Elon Musk: ‘Everyone who signs up for Twitter Blue’ subscription service should get verification check

Elon Musk says that everyone who joins the paid version of Twitter – Twitter Blue – should get a verification badge.

Twitter’s latest board member is not wasting anytime in making bold proclamations that would change how we use the bird app. Just days after buying into the company and becoming its highest shareholder, Musk has already hinted at the long overdue edit feature.

Wile we are still digesting this announcement, the tech boss made another one on Sunday, 10 April 2022. He tweeted:

Musk further shared other perks of joining the subscription service. “Blue already has a modifiable 20 second time to edit tweet feature. And no ads. The power of corporations to dictate policy is greatly enhanced if Twitter depends on advertising money to survive,” he said.

However, he concedes that this should be strictly for corporations and should be different from public figure or official account blue badges. Also, he acknowledged that since currencies and economies differ by location, the pricing of the subs ‘should be proportionate to affordability & in local currency.’

This is a major move as not even that many people know about Twitter Blue and if the subscription comes with a verified badge, companies are likely to consider it as an option. Once again, Elon Musk is proving himself to be able to make money out of anything and everything.

Although, to be fair, Twitter made $5.7 billion in 2021, so it is not broke. But, it has always struggled with monetising the large number of daily users it has. Things may be set to change.
