Twitter is testing a new feature that will make push notifications feel less overwhelming. The new snooze feature will reportedly allow users to halt alerts for a few hours at a time. It was found in the code for the Android mobile Twitter app.

The new feature is designed such that users will be able to pause notifications for a few hours. Twitter in a statement said: “Our teams are always thinking of new features for people to personalize their experience on Twitter. We’ll share more details on individual experiments as they’re live for people to test soon.”

Twitter tests new features from time to time, and some of them never even see the light of day. However, depending on how useful this new feature is found, it may become integrated into the app. At some point, Twitter hid replies to specific tweets and incorporated the ability to add images and gifs to quoted tweets.

Twitter Push Notifications

Having push notifications for Twitter can be a hassle with the constant ringing. It would be nice to be able to put it on hold for a while when you need to attend to other things. This would be an easy escape from the distraction, especially if you don’t want to turn the notifications off altogether.

Twitter users have been begging for an edit button for years. However, it seems that the app wants people to continue to keep a careful record of their words. In another sense, Twitter users need to choose their words more carefully.
