Two Ways To Turn Off Auto-Brightness On Your iPhone

The iPhone has auto-brightness sensors that help it to adjust automatically based on changes in surrounding light.

This is why you will notice that your iPhone will automatically go darker to fit the environment when you are out in the sun. It will also go brighter without prompting when you are indoors with low light.

Users can, however, decide to manually adjust their screen brightness in the settings or through the control centre.

The auto-brightness feature is great, but it is not a smart iPhone battery saver. If you realise that you do not need the feature or are trying to conserve battery, here is how to turn off the feature.

  • First, click on the Settings app,
  • Then scroll down and tap General.
  • Scroll down again and tap Accessibility.
  • Now, scroll down and tap on Display Accommodations.
  • Go to Auto-Brightness to toggle it on or off. It goes green when it’s turned on.

The second way to do this is to adjust the brightness of the screen manually. This is especially useful if the auto brightness is too bright for your eyes.

  • You can decide to do it through your Settings by tapping on the app and scrolling down to Display & Brightness.
  • Now, adjust it to your preferred brightness level.

The quickest way to adjust the brightness, though, is through the Control Center. To do this:

  • Slide up the bottom of the screen to bring up the Control Center. If you use an iPhone X, you will have to swipe up from the upper-right corner of the screen.
  • Look for the brightness icon with the sun-shaped thing beside the volume.
  • Slide it up or down to adjust to your preference.
