One of the killer diseases taking lives in Uganda is malaria. The Government ensured that everyone in Uganda gets access to free drugs (medication) in order to combat this problem.
In spite of this, they found that a significant number of people have had to use private facilities. This is because of answerable stock-outs of the prescribed medicines.
BBC Africa Eye went undercover in order to find out the root of the problem. They worked with a Ugandan investigative journalist, Solomon Serwanjja, to conduct the undercover investigation.
During the course of the investigation, they discovered that the health workers — doctors and chemists — are the ones responsible. These medical professionals in Uganda are responsible for stealing and selling life-saving drugs illegally.
In an article titled “Prescription drugs sold illegally in Uganda”, the investigation exposes these medical practitioners.
