Resident Evil fans have will have something exciting to look forward to pretty soon. The best part is that it will be connecting back to its game series roots. According to its director, it will now be a lot more similar to the game series. 47 Meters Down director, Johannes Roberts will direct the new film series.

The films were originally based on the survival horror Resident Evil games. They were action-packed with lots of gruesome imagery. The action-packed films were directed by Paul W.S Anderson. Latest in the line-up was Resident Evil: The Final Chapter released in 2016. It did not do too badly in the box office at the time.

However, on this new voyage, Roberts says, “We are in active development of that at the moment. I pitched them a take, and they really loved it. It’s gonna be super scary. It’s super, super scary. And it’s just getting back to the roots of the game.” This would mean that Resident Evil will get more focus on action as it is in the games.

The games have been able to take on a more action-oriented approach in recent times. Although, details have not been revealed as to when this new movie will be released. However, it is expected to bring some nostalgia and probably a few cheesy dialogues like in the games.

Meanwhile, Anderson is working on another film from game adaptation soon. The Monster Hunter movie adaptation is coming soon.
