In a recent speech, Donald Trump said, “We must do a better job of identifying and acting on early warning signs.” He went on to suggest that social media companies should develop ways to detect warning flags.
He continued by saying: “I am directing the Department of Justice to work in partnership with local state and federal agencies, as well as social media companies, to develop tools that can detect mass shooters before they strike.”
Trump did not clarify how these tools will work or even how they should make them. However, this could be a call for social media companies to create software that could predict a potential shooter based on their social media activities. It would mean taking pre-emptive measures to ensure a person gets caught before they commit a violent crime.
Today, I am also directing the Department of Justice to propose legislation ensuring that those who commit hate crimes and mass murders face the DEATH PENALTY – and that this capital punishment be delivered quickly, decisively, and without years of needless delay. pic.twitter.com/BDXdpelK7F

However, these tools may prove problematic if they are even possible to make. It could mean that the government or some agency watches everyone, and who is to determine the accuracy of it? It could also pose privacy issues as it will see users getting monitored by default.
Meanwhile, Trump also took to Twitter to make some accusations. He blamed video games for celebrating the culture of violence. He also accused the news media of contributing to the anger and rage in the country.
The Media has a big responsibility to life and safety in our Country. Fake News has contributed greatly to the anger and rage that has built up over many years. News coverage has got to start being fair, balanced and unbiased, or these terrible problems will only get worse!
