Mark Zuckerberg dropped a first-look video at the coming mixed reality headset codenamed Project Cambria, coming later this year.
In the video, in which Zuckerberg is seen wearing the blurred-out high-end VR headset, we see how it uses the company’s Presence Platform to give an experience called “The World Beyond.”
What happens is that it blends the physical and virtual worlds in a full colour experience. However, the same experience will be available on the Quest headset through the App Lab. Although, it may not be in full colour as Mark says this feature will only be available on Cambria.

While the headset looks like it will be a lot of fun to play around with, that is not its only usefulness. It turns out that it can also improve productivity.
“Imagine being able to pull up your perfect workstation with as many screens as you want anywhere you go,” Meta’s CEO says in the 56-second video.
First look at mixed reality on our next headset codenamed Project Cambria. This demo was created using Presence Platform, which we built to help developers build mixed reality experiences that blend physical and virtual worlds. The demo, called “The World Beyond,” will be available on App Lab soon. It’s even better with full color passthrough and the other advanced technologies we’re adding to Project Cambria. More details soon.

Also, for the fitness enthusiasts, the video shows how interactive it gets when they work out with a virtual instructor who can be beamed into their room.
These capabilities are possible with the Presence Platform, which allows a ‘wide range of mixed reality experiences.’ You can read the platform’s capabilities here, which include Insight SDK, Interaction SDK, and Voice SDK. These capabilities help developers build mixed reality experiences that blend physical and virtual worlds.
Mark Zuckerberg promises more details on Project Cambria soon.
