Top American Comedian Dave Chappelle was assaulted on stage at the Hollywood Bowl.
Several event attendees posted videos of the incident on Tuesday April 4th. The viral video shows Chappelle on stage performing when a man to his right rushes at him and tackles him to the floor.

LAPD confirms that a man armed with a replica gun “that can eject a knife blade” when discharged correctly is in custody.
In video footage immediately after the attack, Chappelle recovers his composure and joke, “It was a trans man.”
The joke was a reference to the ongoing controversy surrounding some of the comedian’s jokes in his Netflix specials that have been construed as transphobic.

In October 2021, Dave Chappelle’s “The Closer”, premiered on Netflix. In the video, here the comedian made several jokes that targeted the LGBTQ community, particularly transgender people. Chappelle said “Gender is a fact” and “LGBTQ people are “too sensitive”.
What followed was a protest by Netflix staff and transgender activists. They staged the walkout outside the streaming giant’s Los Angeles offices.

Chappelle laughed off the backlash, saying: “If this is what being cancelled is about, I love it.”
