“Watch Me Nae Nae” Rapper Silento Indicted In Murder Of His Cousin

Rapper Ricky Lamar Hawk better known as Silento has been indicted in the murder of his cousin Fredrick Rooks.Silento

Silento, 23, was arrested in connection with the murder of Rooks back in February and has since been in custody.

On Tuesday, August 3, 2021, the rapper was indicted by a grand jury on four count charges; malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, TMZ reported.

DeKalp Police Department had reported that authorities were called to the scene after Rooks was found lying on the road with multiple gunshots to his face and leg at 3:30 a.m. Jan. 21. He was pronounced dead on the spot.

After a thorough investigation, DKPD detectives identified Hawk as Rooks’ cousin. And the person responsible for Rooks’ murder,” the DeKalb County Police Department said in a statement.

Meanwhile, his PR manager Chanel Hudson had earlier had called for prayers for Silento. She claimed that his mental health has taken quite a blow in jail where he’s been remanded without bond till his next court date.

“Please send my client Silento some positive vibrations,” she wrote in the caption. “Over the past several years, Ricky has been suffering immensely from a series of mental illnesses. We will continue in his efforts of treatment, but we ask in the meantime the public uplift him and his family in immediate prayer & positive energy!! Ricky is a beautiful soul, and we hope that the same people who came up whippin’ and nay naying with him, continue to support him and lifted in prayer. God bless.”

Silento rose to fame in 2015 with his smashing hit song “Watch Me Whip/ Nae Nae” that spawned a viral dance. Billboard named the song amongst 100 Songs That Defined the Decade in 2019.
