Just when you think you’ve gotten the hang of Afrobeat superstar Wizkid’s style, he switches it up on you. Wizkid has finally released his much anticipated single titled “Joro”. And the song comes just in time for Nigeria’s Independence Day.
This single comes closely on the heels of “Ghetto Love”, his first single of the year, which we still haven’t gotten enough of. He dropped the single less than a month ago.
Wizkid shared the first cover art of “Joro” earlier in June to whet the appetite of his fans. The singer also dropped the official video to the Northboi-produced song shortly after. The video is an embodiment of everything that will make you want to Joro (meaning to dance).
The video, shot across England and Nigeria, shows Wizkid in a candlelit room. There are also different scenes of a dancer that enthrals you with her moves. You can literally feel the music vibing through her body, from her shoulders down to her toes.
Earlier this year, he sang alongside Beyoncé, Blue Ivy, and SAINt JHN on The Lion King soundtrack cut, “Brown Skin Girl.” The song has inspired multiple covers from different celebrities and sparked a whole skin colour positivity movement.
However, there’s still no word as to when his long-anticipated album, “Made In Lagos” will drop. Nevertheless, the steady stream of new material seems to suggest something may be in the works.
