It is even worse if you have to walk in the heat constantly. This technology is one that we have all thought of at some point. The Reon Pocket

Sony is now working with a Japanese company to crowdfund wearable air conditioners. The Reon Pocket as it’s called helps you cope with Lagos heatwaves. It also comes in handy for western countries where it gets really cold too. It can also serve as a mobile body warmer for really cold winter nights where the temperatures go as low as minus 20 degrees.

The Reon Pocket fits into a little pouch at the back of a specially made t-shirt. What the device does is sit at the base of the user’s neck and use Peltier effect. This is a situation where heat is emitted or absorbed when you pass an electrical current across a junction. Inherently, it lowers the body temperature by minus five degree Celsius or raises it by minus ten degrees Celsius.

It means that when you are trying to get to a meeting in a suit, you can still look clean even in Lagos heat. The temperature of the device can be manually controlled with a mobile app. Sony wants to introduce an automatic mode in a future update. It also would not require any charge in the middle of a busy meeting day.

The Japanese company making the device says the battery life is less than two hours. They confirmed that the 24-hour battery life is for the device’s Bluetooth connection. They say it can only work in short bursts. Hopefully, this should be able to save you from dripping in sweat into an important event. It could also keep your make up intact until you arrive at an important function.

Unfortunately, The Reon Pocket will not be in the market until March 2020. It will also only be available in Japan during that time. Hopefully, it will be shipped to Africa soon as it will be an invaluable asset.
Meanwhile, if you are looking to buy this device, it will have a starting price of ¥12,760 in Japan. That will make it NGN 42,120 in Nigeria.
