WhatsApp now lets you react to messages with any emoji

WhatsApp users can now react to messages with any emoji, not just the restrictive six that were allowed. The new feature aims to improve communication and will likely make it easier to show emotions via chat.

The announcement came from Mark Zuckerberg’s Facebook post and a WhatsApp Tweet. And it should be available to all users soon, and although we were not given a rollout timeline, we know it started on Monday, July 11.

For months, WhatsApp has let users react to messages with just six emojis. Likely, it was testing how the feature affects usage, and the results have been satisfying for it to roll out more emoji options to choose from.

If you have not been using the emoji reaction feature, you have been missing out on the fun. To access it, just long-press the message you want to react to, and a menu shows up. It will contain the previously supported six emojis and a plus sign to see more emojis.

However, if you take this action and don’t see the plus sign, the new emoji WhatsApp reactions are not yet available in your region. You don’t have to do anything, the company is still rolling it out gradually, and it will get to you soon.

Emoji reactions will make it easier to react to messages and keep the conversation flowing.
