Some premium blogs and websites reverted to default themes yesterday, Tuesday, 11th June 2019. This was after a WordPress outage affected them. An artsy image of succulent plants replaced the front page graphics on the sites.
The outage occurred on WordPress’ VIP GO platform. It caused many blogs to show 503 errors or go back to a WordPress default theme. A fix was issued soon afterwards. But, by then, many sites featured the shot of the house plant.
The outage also affected popular media websites like BBC America, 9to5Mac, Rolling Stone and TechCrunch.
All WordPress’ VIP Go sites were back up and running after about three hours. However, Twitter had gone agog with reports before this happened.
