The Microsoft and Activision Blizzard acquisition deal is still the hottest topic in the gaming industry and Xbox CEO Phil Spencer has openly accused rivals Sony of being behind the FTC probe.

Recall that the commission has decided to sue Microsoft over antitrust violations in hopes of blocking the acquisition deal. Now, Microsoft’s gaming leader and Xbox boss has fingered its fiercest rival, Sony, as the source of the problem.

“The way they grow is by making Xbox smaller,” Spencer said of the PlayStation maker in a Second Request podcast. This is not the first time that he has taking shots at the Japanese corporation. After agreeing to a 10-year deal with Nintendo to allow players enjoy the Call of Duty game on its console, Spencer had said that the deal is just awaiting Sony’s signature.

“Sony is leading the dialogue around why the deal shouldn’t go through to protect its dominant position on console, so the thing they grab onto is Call of Duty. The largest console maker in the world raising an objection about the one franchise that we’ve said will continue to ship on the platform,” Spencer adds during the podcast.

Sony has not said anything about the 10-year deal but initially rejected an offer that Spencer made to PlayStation head Jim Ryan, some months ago. It called the offer ‘inadequate.’

Nintendo will have to wait and see the outcome of the FTC lawsuit before it can offer the shooting game to its users.
