Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 rivals Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Flip 4 with a slimmer design that makes it just 11.2mm thick when folded. The company solved the ‘bulge’ issue for consumers looking for a foldable phone they could carry conveniently in their pockets like regular smartphones.
When unfolded, the device is just 5.4mm thick; for comparison, the iPhone 13 is 7.7mm thick, so the Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 is easy to handle even when folded. Also, the Galaxy Z Fold4 is 6.3mm unfolded and 15.8 folded.
Also, the company claims that the hinges allowing the folding mechanism to work are designed using a durable MIM alloy. The material is made with weldless unibody tech and carbon fiber.
When folded, the AMOLED screen you see measures 6.56-inches and offers 120Hz resolution, while when unfolded, the inner screen is an 8.02-inch 2K+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate. They both offer Dolby Vision and 1000 nits HBM, with the inner screen supporting a dual ambient light sensor.

Under the design, a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor powers the device, allowing it to remain cool while performing high computing.
In the camera department, Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 is equipped with Leica professional optical lens. The main camera is a 50MP IMX766 snapper with a 13MP ultra-wide shooter for support. It has a powerful 2x telephoto lens and an SMA actuator for Optical Image Stabilisation. In addition, it has an Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) low-reflectivity tech that produces better images.
With the Leica lens, customers can choose any of the two photographic styles, which are the authentic look and the vibrant look. They also get to enjoy the camera’s 8K video recording capability.
All these features hinge on a 4,500mAh battery with 67W turbo charging support. Hopefully, the processor optimises its usage and does not eat into battery life.
For now, the Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 is only available in China and is priced at $1,340 for the 12/256GB model and $1,780 for the 12GB RAM and 1TB storage model.
