The desktop version of Skype already lets you share your screen. But now, as of Wednesday, 5th June 2019, users can use this feature on iOS and Android devices.

Users can use the feature by clicking on the three dots at the bottom right of the display during a call. They will then tap on the Share Screen button that appears. Users can now get out of the Skype chat display and start sharing other screens on their phone.

Skype in its announcement said,

“Whether you have a last-minute meeting on the go or your dad doesn’t know how to use his phone, screen sharing on Android and iOS lets you get it done from anywhere.”

The new feature for mobile is, however, only available to the latest version of Skype on Android devices. iOS users running the iOS 12 and above are also able to use the feature.

The Microsoft-owned company also announced its new call interface for mobile. It will simplify and streamline video chats.

This would allow a simple tap on the screen to remove all the Skype call controls for a bigger and cleaner chat interface. Tapping on the screen again will bring back the controls. There is also now simple navigation to call recording and subtitles.

So far, Skype has remained the longest-running video chat service. It has about 300 million active users from around the world monthly.

In 2011, Microsoft acquired the video chat app, which launched in 2003 for $8.5 billion. New features have, however, been updated on the app since then.

The app applied some practical features like the ability to expand the group-call limit from 25 to 50 participants on the desktop version of the app.

It also has an in-built call recording with live captions, subtitles, HD video calls and a fresh notification panel.

Also recently, Skype launched a feature that includes the option to blur the background for a seamless video chat.
