While WhatsApp voice and video calls have been available on Android and iOS versions for long, web users will soon be able to enjoy the feature as well.
We came across this information on WABetainfo blog. According to the report, WhatsApp is rolling out Calls feature on its Web 2.2043.7 update. In fact, it claims that users who are enrolled in the WhatsApp beta testing programme are already using the feature.
“When you receive a calls from WhatsApp Web, a window will be presented where you can accept or decline the incoming call. When you call someone, WhatsApp will show another type of window, it’s smaller and it includes the status of the call” WABetainfo wrote.

Why is WhatsApp rolling out voice and video calls for its web version users? This appears to be due to the rise in users of the web version. More people are now connecting their WhatsApp to their computers to make it easier to work and collaborate at the same time. The absence of the Call feature on web has led to distractions and impeded work as well.
Additionally, WABetainfo says that Group Voice and Video calls is also available on the new update. For now, there is no expected official release date. However, traditionally, it only takes some weeks after a feature appears on the beta version before it is available for all users. Thus, WhatsApp web users should expect the voice and video calling feature before the end of 2020.
