YouTube Gaming has announced a new feature, Pinned Chat for all creators. Since the announcement was not made through the official YouTube Twitter handle, it appears that only users with gaming accounts can use it.
Although, the announcement does mention ‘all creators’, so it may come to others soon. The gaming arm of YouTube had unveiled the feature on 20th November 2020, it tweeted:
Pinned Chat is now available to all Creators! During a Live Stream or Premiere, pick which message you’d like to stay at the top of chat, click more and look for the pin icon. 📌 pic.twitter.com/IpFm9fDho3

This is an important feature because it helps Creators who are hosting a Live stream to share important things such as announcements or even polls with the audience. Many social media platforms that have Live broadcast services allow users to pin tweet.
One of the most popular one is the Instagram pin chat feature. Pinned messages are important during Live streams to help people who join halfway to understand what is happening. YouTube has a ‘Super Chats’ feature where a member of the audience can pay to pin a chat for as long as 5 hours.
However, this feature only allows a fan keep their comment up and not the creator of the stream themselves. YouTube comments move too fast especially when there are thousands of real-time viewers. Thus, the new pinned chat feature that YouTube Gaming announced meets the needs of many creators.
