Using YouTube just got a little more exciting for creators and other YouTubers. YouTube recently introduced an updated filtering system for managing comment sections. With this, it aims to make it easier for YouTube creators to find questions and separate comments by subscriber count.
This means that YouTube creators can easily search through their subscriber count. It’ll also make it easier for them to engage with viewers.
Until now, the top feature request YouTube has gotten from creators is the provision of a better search system. YouTube spoke on the subject in a blog post it published earlier. Creators can receive thousands upon thousands of comments on their videos. This makes a robust filter system instrumental for engaging with viewers.
The new filtering options now list include:
- Response status: has the creator already responded to this comment?
- Contains question: does the comment contain a question?
- Subscriber count: does the commenter have at least 1,000, 10,000, 100,000, one million, or 10 million subscribers?
- Subscriber status: is the commenter publicly subscribed to the creator?
- Member status: is the commenter a member?
YouTube currently has a filter system in place. However, it’s not quite as powerful. For example, a common frustration the company has dealt with in the past is the limited use of keyword searching.
YouTube’s blog post reads:
“Previously, searching by keyword only showed you comments with an exact match (so searching ‘subs’ would only find ‘subs’). With this update, you’ll see search results beyond the exact match. (So now you’ll also see ‘subscriber’ or ‘subscribers’ for that same search.)”
Trying to work within YouTube’s busy comments section is still difficult. Nevertheless, the company is working on adding more options to the filtering system. Previous examples of features that were added to comment filtering included creator hearts. The hearts allow YouTubers to like people’s comments, pin top comments, and they give creators control over comment review.
