Yvonne Orji is winning big again and we’re so here for it!
The Nigerian-American actress has secured a deal to produce an autobiographical comedy shoyw for Disney+
The 30-minute autobiography titled “First Gen” will follow the life of Yvonne Orji as a first-generation. immigrant in America. According to a Deadline report, the show co-produced by David Oyelowo and Oprah Winfrey will highlight culture shocks and clash of a Nigerian immigrant in the US.
“As a child, she’s caught between trying to honor her parents and culture while simultaneously trying to assimilate to American life”, the report reads.

An excited Orji took to her Instagram to confirm the news writing
“The trailer I shot in 2015 for this family sitcom I desperately wanted to create, is what helped me get an audition for @insecurehbo. FIVE YEARS LATER (after being told “NO” SEV. ER. AL. Times), my lil engine that could, finally has a home with the @disneyplus family. Thank you @davidoyelowo for believing in the dream FROM JUMP. And Lady @oprah for coming on board as our Fairy Godmother”.
“I’ve been very vocal about my desire to highlight stories from the Continent, and I’m grateful to have this opportunity to do so”.
Meanwhile, Yvonne Orji recently successfully aired her comedy special “Momma I Made It” on HBO.
She shot the limelight playing Molly, a controversial lawyer seeking love in the vastly successful HBO series “Insecure” and since then, its been wins and wins for her.
