Zebra technologies is telling all employees that week of 13th to 19th September 2020 will be to give back to their local communities.
Therese Van Ryne, the Global Director of PR, Thought Leadership and Advocacy, Zebra technologies made the announcement via a blog post. Ryne praised the philanthropic and volunteering spirit among the company’s staff.
Then she wrote that during the coming week, “Zebras all around the world are going to take a step away from their daily work to volunteer in their communities either individually or as part of a team.”
Ryne also mentioned that they could support charitable organisations and they could reach out their beneficiaries through physical contact, while maintaining social distancing rules.

Other ways that Therese Van Ryne mentioned that employees could volunteer is via technology-based assistance. For example; they could use Be My Eyes app to connect to the blind and visually impaired. These could afford these limited individuals the opportunity to access the world more freely.
Also, there is the Career Village platform that assists students via personal LinkedIn accounts to answer career questions. Using Crisis Text Line is a way to provide emotional support to people in the community as well.
Additionally, they could use the Translation Without Borders software to help charitable organisations translate texts.
Zebra technologies will compile contributions during the Global Week of Service. It will be downloadable by early October 2020. Ryne concludes; “We understand that many people are struggling to balance their increased work and home responsibilities right now. That’s why we are advocating for Zebras – and you – to give back whenever, however and from wherever possible.”
